Term 1, Week 2
Kaya wandjoo to week 2!
I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. What a
difference a day makes. We were at the beach until 7 on Saturday night and then
running for cover on Sunday. Very crazy.
Playground Behaviour:
I would just like to make everyone aware that there
has been a couple of incidents during soccer on the oval in week 1. If you
could please to talk your children about the fact that recess and lunch is about
enjoying themselves and spending time with their friends. It seems a few students
believe that they are playing in the English Premier League or similar leagues.
If they are, I would love a cut of their cheques. Please remind them it is all
about fun during break times. I don’t want to be the one that ruins that fun.
Parent Information Night:
Due to Covid requirements there will not be a
parent information night this year. We will pass on the required information in
another form and more information will be coming out soon to let you know how
and when.
Seesaw:
Seesaw logins will be handed out on Monday. If you
are unable to login to Seesaw could you please let me know and we’ll figure out
what the issue is. Throughout the year Seesaw will be used to show you what the
children have been up to in school and inform you of assessment in the learning
areas.
Laptop Agreements:
The amazing Janine Johnson emailed a copy of these
home to you last week, if I can please ask you to send your signed copy in with
your child by Wednesday.
If you are having any problems printing, please let
me know and I can send home a hard copy with your child.
Swimming
Lessons:
Next
week, the swimming lessons will run from Monday to Friday and we will be
departing the school at 10.15am. Please ensure they come to school ready for
swimming, they can wear bathers and rashies under their sport uniform. Please
ensure that they have sunscreen on before arriving to school. Students will
need to wear their enclosed sport shoes and bring their thongs with them. They
can change as soon as they arrive to school. We will arrive back to the school
after swimming lessons at approx 11:20am. Please ensure that all clothing and
equipment including googles are appropriately labelled.
Homework:
There
will be no homework this week. The school is also having a look at its current
homework policy, so watch this space.
Character
Strength of the week:
To be brave is to face your challenges, threats, or
difficulties. It involves valuing a goal or conviction and acting upon it,
whether popular or not. A central element involves facing – rather than
avoiding – fears.
There are three types of bravery (an individual may
possess one of these or a combination):
- Physical bravery (e.g., firefighters, police officers, soldiers)
- Psychological bravery (e.g., facing painful aspects of oneself)
- Moral bravery (e.g., speaking up for what's right, even if it's an
unfavorable opinion to a group)
This would provide a great conversation starter for your family around the dinner table, asking them where they have seen bravery or have been brave themselves.
When our strengths are spotted by others and we are using them well, it helps us to feel strong and confident within ourselves.
