Term 4, Week 3

Good afternoon and welcome to week 3!
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! It sounds like there was some pretty good basketball results over the weekend, which is awesome to hear.

Swimming Trials:
We will be completing these this Tuesday 25th October. We will be leaving school promptly at 8.45am so if you can please make sure that your child is on time on this day.
Students are to wear their sports uniform.

Your child will need to bring the following:
  • Bathers - worn underneath their sports uniform with plenty of sunscreen already applied.
  • Rashie - This is not optional - all students MUST wear a rashie as we will be swimming in the outside pool. If your child doesn't bring their rashie on Tuesday, they will need to swim in their sports short which makes life difficult for when they get back to school.
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Thongs - to be worn to and from the pool
  • School Hat
  • Recess and plenty of Water - We will be back in time for a later recess but please factor in that your child may be a little hungrier than usual after a big day!
Grandparents Day:
We are so excited to have this beautiful event happening on Friday 28th October.

Grandparents are invited to attend afternoon tea beginning at 1.30pm in the hall, they will then move into the children's classrooms to spend some time looking at what they have ben up to and enjoying the learning space.

All grandparents are then invited to attend our special Grandparent's Assembly being present by 5R beginning at 2.30pm.

World Teacher's Day:
We will also be celebrating World Teacher's Day on Friday which is a special day for all teachers who have answered the call to join this highly rewarding vocation.

Term 4 Important Dates:
25th October - Swim Trials 
28th October - Grandparents Day
4th November - OLC Swimming Carnival
11th November - Student Free Day
23rd November - OLC AGM
2nd December - International Day of Disabilities
7th December - Christmas Concert
9th December - Year 6 Graduation, last day of school, colour run

Good afternoon and welcome to week 7, The DCC B Grade boys had a great win on the weekend and took home the flag! It was fantastic that the next day I was privileged to go to the Eucharist Commitment mass, which was a lovely ceremony. Eucharist Commitment Mass: Thank you to all who attended on Sunday morning. It was a beautiful ceremony and Father Ian was awesome with all the students. Eucharist Mass: Saturday 26 th March: We will be celebrating this on Saturday 26th March with mass beginning at  6:00pm . Those students that are making their First Eucharist are asked to wear white or a light coloured shirt and come dressed in their Sunday best. Due to Covid restrictions, we are asking all families to restrict their numbers to 10 family members only, including the candidate. Merit Award/Star Citizen: Congratulations to Lexi lambert and Patch O’Brien for receiving a Merit award and Star Citizen respectively. Love seeing people rewarded for the hard work. Well done guys. Term 2, Week 2

Welcome to week 2! Massive weekend just gone! You know what I am referring to Rob Blechynden! The Dockers PUMPING the terrible Kangaroos. Robbies team didn’t go to well either. Wheelie, Walkie, Waste Free Wednesday: I f possible, please send your child to school with a waste free lunch tomorrow and each Wednesday for the rest of the term. It's a great initiative that instills sustainable behaviours in all of us. Another great way to get behind this initiative, is to walk or ride to school. If you are too far from school, walking from the church may be a way for you to partake.  Laptops: It is super important that these are coming to school with sufficient charge to last the day. Tuesday to Friday during our Reading Groups the students must have access to their laptops as all of their activities are undertaken on their laptops, not to mention the times during other lessons where they are required. Term 4, Week 1

Good evening everyone!! Who’s pumped?!?!? I know I am! I hope that everyone had an excellent break. I went up to Coral Bay for the first time. Can’t believe that I haven’t been there before! Such a wicked place. Taste of SMMC : Just a reminder that all Year 4 students will be heading off on Friday to experience some of the delights of SMMC. If your child has not returned their permission slip and you need another copy, please let me know and I will send one home with your child on Monday. Stationery: If you can please take a moment to remind your child to clean out their pencil cases and check if they are missing anything. Laptops: Please also remind your child to pop them on charge ready for tomorrow and we will need them everyday.  Summer Uniform : Not that it feels like it but we are back in summer uniform as of Monday.
