Term 1, Week 6

Welcome to week 6,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had our commissioning mass yesterday morning. It was a great way to welcome the new staff members of OLC.

Swimming:
Swimming lessons begin Monday the 8th of March and run for 2 weeks.

The classroom will continue to run as normal with a slightly adjusted timetable to fit in around swimming lessons as well as the adjusted specialist timetable.

We will be travelling by bus with 4DEL to Old Dunsborough Beach and leaving school at 11:40am, as our lesson time is 11:55am. The students will have a 40 minute lesson each day. Our E.T.A. back at school is 12:50pm.

SPORTS UNIFORM may be worn each day for the next fortnight.  Please note, that your child must come to school wearing their sneakers, not thongs.

Your child can wear their bathers underneath their sports uniform if they are comfortable but as our lesson is later in the day, they will be given time to get changed before we depart.
Please take the time to check that your child has what they need each day packed in a sturdy bag to carry to the lessons and that that all items are clearly labelled with their name:

-       bathers

-       rashie

-       towel

-       goggles

-       thongs to wear on the bus and at the beach

-       full water bottle with name labelled

Homework:Thank you to those parents that signed their child’s “Home Learning Grid” in Week 4.  Please ensure you do this on a Thursday night before the students return their homework book to class on a Friday.  They do not need to bring their homework book to school each day, only on a Friday morning, when it is due.  The books are then given back out on a Monday morning for the new weekly grid to be stuck in.

Our Learning:

In Friendology we have been looking at “true colours” and what ours are. Meaning that everyone is different, but still have such great individual assets that make us wonderful.

In Maths we have be been looking at place value up to the millions and even started playing a verbal place value game that I picked up during our maths PD.

In spelling our Soundwaves program has been following extremely well. We have discussed how intense the English language is.

Altar Servers:
Your child should have brought a note home last Wednesday asking for volunteers to altar serve at our Parish Masses. In volunteering, your child will display a terrific sense of community and leadership to help Father Francis in this way. ALL children must return a note to indicate if they are interested or not. If you did not find a copy of the note in your child's bag, please let me know and I will send another home.

Parent Interviews:
An online timetable for 4DAN parents will be emailed out before the end of this week with booking slots for our parent teacher interviews in week 8 and 9. Please let us know if these weeks will not be suitable for you and we can organise a time sooner in the term.

Long service leave:
I would just like to let everyone know that I am taking three Long Service Leave days in the coming weeks. Friday 12th March, Monday 15th March and Monday 22nd March. Nothing will change in the classroom on these days (besides the teacher haha).
