Term 3, Week 4

 Welcome to week 4 everyone,

Great win by the Eagles yesterday, the Blues were up and about but just fell short. Dockers tonight, what a way to start the week with footy on a Monday night!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and stayed dry! I went to a 40th on Saturday night, I am wayyyyyyy to young to be going to those!!

Merit Award: Congratulations to Elsie for receiving a merit award last week for the work she has been putting into maths this term. Well done Elsie.

Confirmation: Please keep the students from the Year Six class that are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday night in your thoughts.

Parent Night: Due to Covid-19, the parent open night evening scheduled for Week 6 has been cancelled.

Music Folders: We had music today and SEVEN students didn't have their music files. Could you please check with your child that they have theirs ready to go on a Monday.

Throws and JumpsThese will be completed during our sports lessons over the next two weeks. If possible, it would be great if your child could wear their faction t-shirt on Wednesday please.

Maths Test:

Time – We have moved this to this Friday 15th August to give the students a little more time to work on calculating elapsed time and review their time telling skills!

OUR LEARNING

Numeracy: We have been working hard during our maths sessions and have been having fun playing Time Detectives to solve some different real life problems. As mentioned above we will be having our assessment this week which will be looking at students being able to:

  • Tell time - what time is being shown on an analogue or digital clock, including being able to identify am and pm time.
  • Represent time - draw hands on a clock to show a given time
  • Time Facts - how many seconds/minutes/hours/days/month etc. in a given time.
  • Calculate elapsed time - how much time has passed and then being able to represent this in hours and minutes etc.

Literacy:Our persuasive writing unit continues and have looked at hamburgers representing the structure and OREO’s representing the paragraph structure. Below is a photo to help this understanding haha.
