Term 1, Week 6

Welcome to another fantastic week here in Year 4!

A massive thank you to the families that attended our Year 4 Eucharist Commitment and Family Mass on Saturday night, it was really lovely to see all of you standing at the front of the church pledging your commitment to support your child during their preparations to receive this very special sacrament.

Swimming Lessons:
Swimming lessons started successfully yesterday. Students are to wear their sports uniform including sneakers to and from school. We will give the students time to get changed after recess. This means it is unnecessary for students to wear their rashies underneath their shirts to school.

If you can please make sure that your son is wearing his black school shorts over his boardies, students are expected to be in the correct sports uniform. Once again they can put their boardies on after recess if they think they will get too hot.
OUR LEARNING

We have had a great time in our writing sessions, looking at the different features of a really good setting description, we are now looking to apply those skills to writing a character description! From here will be looking at how to build a plot and structure our narratives and then the students will finally be free to begin planning and drafting their narratives...stay tuned!

In maths we are looking at different multiplication strategies of doubling, split strategy, compensation and doubling and halving. It is helpful for students to have a variety of mental strategies that they can use when multiplying and the goal from this is that they will learn a strategy or two that they can use flexibly.

Homework:
If I can also ask you to check out the upcoming events and reminders section that has also been added.

Also can you please make sure that your child gets you to sign the bottom part of the homework grid as 5 people didn’t get this done last week.
